Bearding tips and advice for first-time beard growers! These are just a few tips and tricks I've picked up in the past year of growing out my first beard.

I can't take much of the credit for these--Most of this advice was given to me by the fantastic bearded gentlemen of beardboard dot com.

What are you waiting for? Quit shaving! It's fun!

  • I appreciate the encouragement. I've grown my beard out several times, but this time I'm growing it in for good and I can just drive myself crazy worrying about it sometimes. It's a long way from being as glorious as yours, but I'm trying to just not shave at all for a year or so to see how far I can go with it. I'm suffering from hair loss and growing the beard really helps me deal with it.

  • @Wes919 Hang in there man. Hair loss isn't so bad...your beard is probably mad thick!

  • hey dude, im only 16 years old but i REALY want a beard just like yours, i am aware that every guy is different but im not sure where i should start. I am afraid of not shaving because if i cant grow a beard yet, i will look like a complete twat. Should i wait until i am older? or just stop shaving altogether? any help will be deeply appreciated! thanks.

  • @t1t296 The best way to see if you can grow a beard is to just stop shaving for a few weeks and see how much hair you have. Most 16-year-olds' beards are still developing so don't be disappointed if it isn't the epic beard of your dreams. Watch what happens in another 10 years!

  • ive been growing my beard since oct 2011, this is the 2nd time growing for a long period of time.. my sides still grows in fairly thin, should i just trim the sides a little so its not so wirey? or should i just let it go and hope it gets a lil denser? my beard looks like a shorter version of madisyahu the jewish rapper.. thnx man BEARD POWER!!!

  • @GEOdozer420 Sometimes trimming the thin spots is a good way to get them to lie down again, especially if the hairs are getting really long and growing away from your face. At the same time, you want enough length such that when the hairs DO lie down, they "fill in" some of the patchy spots. You've got to find that sweet spot yourself.

  • Thanks for this video. I have just started my first time beard '3 weeks so far' and you have answered the questions I had...lol

I guess I have one issue still. I was laid off and am now looking for work. I am wondering if my growing a beard will make a difference if I get hired or not. I'll find out soon enough...lol

Thanks again for posting this video.

  • @mrfourchette, thanks for getting back and for the advice.

  • I wonder if it's coincidence that BEER and BEARD sound very much alike!
