This is a review of the Olympus DM-420 and is a follow-up to rml695's unboxing video I posted a few weeks back. The video does a great job of highlighting the voice guidance functions which make this an ideal recorder for our visually impaired customers.

  • I am upgrading from this to the ls7.

  • @gallagher123123 Good choice! You won't be disappointed. The LS-7 is, hands down, my favorite recorder. I literally have dozens of recorders in my arsenal and this is my go-to recorder, especially for recording live music. The center, omni-directional mic is essential for picking up lower bass frequencies.

  • It's just pre-setting for HQ quality of recording in this video, isin't true?

  • @andreadolfin I think you're asking if there is only one audio quality setting on the recorder. If so, the answer would be no. The 420 features the following quality settings: MP3 from 44.1 kHz 320 kbps to 44.1 kHz 128 kbps 34 hours. WMA from STXQ 44.1 kHz 128 kbps LP 8 kHz 8 kbps 533 hours

  • how do i turn it on?

  • @mibrahim19901 The power button is located on the lower left side of the recorder. Simply pull down for a moment to turn on.

  • how did u turn it on

  • @chris24542 Yes, you can disable the voice guidance function on all of our recorders with this feature.

  • can you turn off the annoying narrator??

  • @ksojoel You can use Windows Media Player to play the files. Any other way we do not support.
