Consolation Service a pour thèmes la mort, la rupture, le temps qui passe. le film raconte la vie d'un jeune couple en plein divorce. Dès le début, la narratrice nous livre ses réflexions sur la situation que l'on voit à l'écran, déroulant ainsi tout au long du récit un second niveau de lecture. Le style du film mélange réalisme documentaire et cinéma fantastique.
