Frank Manzo at Atco Raceway

Finding out what this car was about, and meeting Frank Manzo, was the absolute highlight of the day (18 April 2009) on my second visit to Atco Raceway, Atco, New Jersey. Frank Manzo is the 12 time world champion funny car driver (I was told). They were testing the car at this track on this day. I was told this car would go down the trace in about 4 seconds. think rocket ship. And loud enough to burst your brain. I ought to know, I was standing at the start line shooting this video, which is hilarious mainly for the sound track at the end. Enjoy!

@kotzbeck3 Comparing speeds from 1000' to quartermile is unfair to begin with. Just because they shift does not make them more difficult to drive. If you're going to have this argument about slower vehicles and giving credit, you'd have to skip TA and go to Pro Mod.

Top alcohol is just before top fuel, the difference is only about 30-40 mph on average. Top alcohol is MUCH harder to drive, so you could either say they suck for going slower, or you could give them the credit they are due. Frank is the man, I've seen him since I was about 4 at this very same track. I miss Atco, wish I didn't move 1,300 miles away.

Alcohol cars are just a step down from top fuel, right now they are running just as fast if not faster than the top fuel cars of the past.
