@ScenicWitch Haha, Did you know that Hitler watched The Great Dictator twice, rumors say I suppose? Charlie said he'd do anything to hear what he thought of it. Hitler DID wear the mustache because he thought looking like Charlie would make people like him more. Don't blame him, Charlie's my role model.

For starters, keep in mind that the makeup that they used back then was rather primitive, as well as techniques. Plus, the chemicals used to make the makeup back then were still dangerous, so putting anything in the eye would be a bad idea. As for the style of moustache, it's called the Toothbrush, and Chaplin made it popular - so popular that Hilter incorporated it. Hilter was a huge fan of Chaplin, but Chaplin couldn't stand the man - he thought he was scum.
