  • The EMD 710 prime mover sound just like the SD70MACs on American railroads.

  • Yes that's true as the class 66 is a EMD product it shares a number of key components with other north American designs. With the introduction of the class 59 in 1983 and class 66 in 1998 came for the first time the sounds of EMD traction to Britain.

  • The best, they are the same as SD40-2 well tested and very reliable engine. The best thing that happened to British rail transport..

  • Nice film. shame 66's are rough riding/noisy in cab !! & gutless wonders.

  • Yeah. EMD is headquartered in La Grange, Illinois, USA. But the engines were made in Canada since La Grange doesn't build these engines. They only design them.

  • hum yeah i am told that they are qite reliable and really good locos
