Following the challenging farm strip landing we return to base. You can see there is a significant dip on runway before touchdown, we are airborne again momentarily. I practiced some circuits later and put wheels down beyond the dip, I then found out how little runway is left to stop on, the end cannot be seen over the rise and full brakes and sweeping turn were required. Phew

  • Nicely held off after the bounce :)

What was the speed on final?

  • Not so much a bounce more the runway dipping then rising. Can catch you out as it did us. Airfield is Naverranx nr. Pyrenees.

My speed on approach would be usually 55-60mph ias at stage 2 flap dependant on conditions

  • Seemed perfect to me. timandrew1

  • Yes agreed, I'm not criticising you at all. A bounce on such an undulating runway is not unusual and as I said, you held off nicely :) Your approach speed seems fast, is that to compensate for winds in a maountainous area? I usually aim to come over the threshold at about 50mph inmy similar Rans S6. Enjoyed your video, I'm considering building an Xair-H.
