War Correspondents is a Song Theatre Performance inspired by the work of war correspondents.
A long table that doubles as the site of a work station, a restaurant in a bombed out hotel, a press conference, a political meeting, a war cabinet.
Lyrics are drawn from world poets who have experienced war, as well as from the interviews.
The Chadwick/Hoggett team created Dalston Songs commissioned by the Royal Opera House in 2008 and revived in 2010.
Designer Miriam Nabarro has worked as artist and humanitarian worker for War Child in Sudan, Georgia, Congo and many other theatres of war. Nabarro and Chadwick will be doing a field trip to Georgia to meet Georgian journalists to hear their perspectives on Georgia and Chechnya. Other interviewees include those working for the BBC, Al Jazeera and freelance in many countries
A Work in Progress:
The performance is being developed in phases: March 2009, July 2010, November 2010 and December 2010 with the generous support of the National Theatre Studio
Touring Show:
With a minimal set suitably for national and international touring. Ready to go on tour in 2011-2012
