Thank you thank you thank you for stating that a hypothesis is NOT an educated guess. That is one of my biggest pet peeves and drives me crazy when people say that!! Great way to illustrate all of the steps of the method--I will use this idea with my own students.

I enjoyed this. but I think you can look at it from a completely different angle than it was intended. (or was it intended, and I'm the idiot?)

Anything can "sound" like science and fit the scientific method. That doesn't make it true. My frame of reference is that I think quantum physics is bullshit...kind of like this witch burning. It doesn't exist within a framework of logic. "scientists" say its a different type of logic. I say it is illogical, and therefor wrong. Burn me.

The hypothesis Mr D mentioned included a mediator relationship:

Person weighs one duck -> Person made of wood -> Witch

As @monkeywithcomputer said, the one they tested was descriptive and more like "This person is a witch [as measured by the aforementioned and untested hypothesis]. "

Mr D also presented a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy when he said that the adventure happened because the scientific method, which he claims was used, was used.
