"Premakes" Raiders of the Lost Ark (1951)

What if...

Raiders of the Lost Ark was a 50s film serial? Who would be best suited for the role of Indiana Jones? How would his villains translate to this era? What would the film's musical score sound like?

Thankfully, since George Lucas and Steven Spielberg created Raiders as a homage to classic serials, these questions are easily answered. Both directors have acknowledged that specific films influenced key sequences across all four Indiana Jones films. I tried my best piece these films together and create a loose narrative. I hope you enjoy this homage to "Raiders" and the many great films that inspired it.

This "pre-make" is a mash-up of old trailers and clips found all over Youtube. It is fake, independent, and not for profit. It is not endorsed or connected to Paramount or Lucasfilm. It was made as a purely technical exercise, and as a reflective deconstruction of elements in modern cinema.

Actually,I think Indy 2 sucked also. I';ve read accounts where Lucas apologizes for it...saying he was going thru a divorce at the time which accounted for the shitty story and dark tone to the movie. Part 3 had a few good moments. But parts 2 and 4 were atrocious.

I think they dropped the ball and ruined any chance of continuing the art that was Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Raiders was already based on old film serials, so you made a parody of a tribute. It'd be like doing a "What If Kill Bill was an 70's samurai flick."

Absolutely brilliant! I would go to a theater to see a fully realized version of this concept. Hollywood would do well to take a page from your book and return to good story telling uncluttered with effects and noise.

Its a shame Indy 4 was such a mess. What were they thinking? It took Lucas,Spielberg and Harrison Ford nineteen years to agree on that script?

Sadly, the poor performance at the box office would put a damper on any chances of a fifth Indy. Bradley Cooper as Indy!
