18 years old - in the Beir Keller in the Dirty Duck in Walsall, this came on; the room went wild; and I was hooked. One of the songs of my life.

@britnee2469 Paul and Linda wrote it, not Screaming Jay Hawkins. Hawkins just covered it.

I was listening to this song again today because it's funky and I'm stranded. It was performed first by Screaming Jaw Hawkins in 1973, but Paul's first performance of it was in 1971. After a little more investigation, I discovered it was copywritten in 1971 by MLP, which stands for McCartney Productions Limited. Whether he wrote it or Macca or whoever is unclear, but he owns the lyrics and the song. Either from original production or buying it off later.

Tom Waits heard this and became Tom Waits.

For the first 10 years of my life, we didn't have a television. We only had a sony record player. I listened to a bunch of albums but my favorite were Ram, Rubber Soul, and Sgt Pepper. I was very lucky.
Ram is definitely one of those "desert island" type of albums.
