THE LAZARUS (I. Davies)
-----------------------

breathing out & breathing in
a body burning, weightless, dreaming
no gravity can hold me down
oblivious and barely moving

pouring out & pouring in
saltwater kisses, scent & skin
all spilling over, slipping down
a storm against a window pane

The Lazarus restored from dust
a leap of faith, an act of trust
just hold me down & let it pass
for a moment I nearly lost myself

till you
talked me in off the ledge
talked me in off the ledge
& pulled me screaming
dragged me screaming
from the wreckage
I'm tired
tired of walking on the wire
tired of walking on the wire
no, don't look down
just take it
one step at a time

calm, unconscious, still & senseless
child like, innocent, defences
down, beneath cool sheets, cool blankets
freed & sleeping with your secrets

The Lazarus restored from dust
a leap of faith, an act of trust
just hold me now & let it pass
sometimes I nearly lose myself

till you
talk me in off the ledge
talk me in off the ledge
no, don't look down
we'll take it
one step at a time
will you
talk me in off the ledge
will you heal the bleeding edge
& pull me screaming
drag me screaming
from the wreckage?

  • Iva has said Bi-Polar Poems won't be getting released: "You know, my feeling on that collection of songs, they go back to a period from 1997–1999. And a lot of them we actually never finished recording, so my instinct at the moment is to not go back and revisit them. I’d be giving them away probably before I’d be going back and coming to grips with those particular songs."

But he did go onto say that new songs could possibly be on the way!!!

  • @zoohead23690 "my instinct at 'the moment"...this hints to me that Iva probably will complete and release the songs eventually, but perhaps after he has written some other new material. Either way, it all bodes well for us doesn't it ;-) Thanks for sharing those insights.

  • This has got to be the most deeply moving song I've heard from Icehouse, and certainly way up there when considering every artist ever, due to the range of sounds exhibited.

  • so radioheadish :-)

  • Pulls track I love fuckin icehouse
