Starting position for shots from the side - step one
When shots are coming from distance to the side make sure you get out from the goal cage in order to cut angle and cover the net better. Your hands should be in mid high position so you can react quickly both up and down.

  • @mark187ist Ok, it depends on the situation. In 2 against 1 attack the defender should take the passing lane and leave the shot to the goalie. 2 against 0 is whole different thing and you´re right, it´s easier to dive when your legs are like in the video. But isn´t that right that good goalkeepers never dive.. :) In Finland goalies usually are teached to play like I descibed earlier. Of course, there´s as much effective saving techniques and styles as goalies. Remember Dominik Hasek.. :)

  • @Zcni If the offence decides to pass the ball and not to shoot, its more easier to dive and cover the shot if your left knee is covering the post like in this video. You just need to move more out from the goal to cover all corners.

  • The goalie in this video turns his legs to wrong side. When the shot is fired from the right side(seen from goalie), left leg should cover the back corner.
