Røros was the centre of copper mining in Eastern Norway from the 17th Century to the 20th Century - this is where the ore was brought to be smelted.
They have three hundred years of slag piled by the side of the former factory which is now a museum.
The town itself is mostly made of wood and climbs up the hill to the smelting works which are near the top of the town.
As it is so hilly and my partner is slightly disabled carrying the video camera and helping my partner was difficult so I just took the stills camera with me.
The music is:
Grieg - morning from Peer Gynt suite
followed by:
Mosolov - Zavod (Iron Foundry)
The day was beautiful and even the slag heaps looked pretty.

Indeed - if you saw the Aberfan reference that was for me a famous case where rain caused a collapse of a slagheap and it engulfed a primary school and about 100 children died.

Apart from being old and pretty, it also rains very little up there. Which is good. Otherwise the slag heaps would have collapsed and caused disaster ;-)

@spaceman300
Indeed - half the town is slag heaps - it is what 300 years of copper mining does to a town LOL

For a small town it's got a lot slag(s) (heaps) ;)

@kensington25
It is a beautiful town and even the places where the locals live were quite nice.
