I hate when people bash bikes like buells or ducatis on the basis that their import "will leave them in the dust in a straight".

Really? Who cares. I say the same thing when it comes to drag racing cars. Literally anyone can go fast in a line. It's not impressive. Riding fast is actually IMMENSELY easier than riding slow or taking curves aggressively. If anyone has taken their MSF course of higher they would know this.

Going fast in a straight line is unimpressive. Fun, but not brag worthy

people who ride buells and people who own buells do because they like the bikes for what they are. buells offer a feeling that no other bike that i have found can offer. so they cant do 200mphs & a 600 in a straight line will eat it for lunch. now go to the canyons and then tell me what it can do where as the jap bike comes up short. plus owning a buell is a different thing. if you want to be MR or MRS popular dont buy and but if you want to be different then buell is a great choice

Buell closed down because Harley Davidson's contract with Eric Buell was signed for 10 years and buell was taking away from Harleys Marketing tactics so they shut them down. And Actuallybuell race bikes asre still made by buell racing because yes...demand IS high for those fine machines. Read a book.
