the Bible says clearly that "....the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the POWER of GOD unto salvation..." Every Christian would admit that logically the whole idea of salvation doesn't sound right, but it has some power to bring humans to an absolute conversion. The fact is Jehovah did what He did as a result of His faithfulness and love. I see a lot of ignorance in the statement.

@gidtheboss -> yes, and Jim Jones said the same thing and convinced 900+ people to commit suicide. Unless you can actually come up with a response (you are made my an infinitely intelligent creator whose holy spirit resides in you, no) then asserting it's "foolish truth" or whatever gibberish you want to come up with doesn't make it so. There is no "faithfulness" or "love" in the fictional character of Jehovah. He is an angry child, and you are mimicking him. = FAIL. Thanks for playing.

@yogurtking -. Like Paul (to whom you are quoting) I can make shit up too and just assert that it's true. But that's not how truth works. The fact that you buy this and it helps you sleep at night - well, my kid felt the same way about Santa Clause. The only different between you and her (at 9) is that she grew up. How does Paul say it... "put away childish things." So you can stop with the "if you don't believe you won't understand" silliness. I do understand. You choose not to.

@yogurtking - the reason being - you can afford to be courageous enough to question what you've believed on faith. You haven't the courage to realize these are mere men writing and you simply believe they spoke with god. You haven't the courage to peer into how all this came about, how the canon was put together (by more mortal men!) and so on and so forth. So take your condescending statements to weak minds that will swallow it and ask for more. Or, grow a pair.

@yogurtking -> ignorance? how do you mean? ignorance that this is a purely emotional drive that you need to feel loved by something that won't change or go away? nope, I get that. Ignorance of the bible? No, probably can run circles around you with that. Ignorance of moral reasoning? Nope, your bible has very little as is usually ethically bankrupt. Ignorance of what, exactly? There is a phrase - put up or shut up. Assertions are a waste of my and your oxygen.

@yogurtking -> in sum, your basic argument is, "because it sounds absurd and foolish but it makes my heart warm and fuzzy it must be true." We have a word for that too. Stupid.
Mormons say that; you subscribe to that? Didn't think so. So now your contradictory.
you are foolish, not in the Pauline sense that you so compliment yourself with (I love how believers pretend to be humble but are far from it) but in the Proverbs sense.
