My apologies -- but I ended up cancelling out of the trip at the last moment -- bc weather was thunder storms for sat and sun -- really ticked me off. But the rest of the group is still going.

It was terrible weather to say the least. Worst I've experienced at the park! Saturday was just a constant monsoon. Our groups videos will be up soon - but there's nothing to showcase how terrible it was!

Thanks for the vid -I am going to Rain Lake next week -- through to Islet lake -- any balck fly or bug problems -- and any wild animal sitings?

Black fly's were the bug of choice albeit that was in July. There was a fairly constant wind coming across the water that kept mosquitoes away.

2 years back the back country had virtually no bugs in mid August but thanks to this years weather it could prove difficult to gauge bugs.

I'm actually heading out of Rain lake on next Saturday for an 8 day portage trip. Funny you should post now!

I am heading to Rain Lake tommorrow -- Aug 11 - 13. The forcast is quite a bit of rain. Will this be a big problem? Btw- which Sat are you going -- is it tommorrow also -- if so perhaps we could meet up somewhere. I will be with a group of 7 persons. Cheers.

Fancy that! Yeah - Rain Lake is our starting point - Should be getting there at 9-10am ish the first camp is at Ralph Bice (It was supposed to be Daisy but we booked too late - dang). We're going Aug 11 - 19 doing a large portage route. Are you the other large canoe rental group at Trailside Adventure in Kearny? There's 6 including myself in the group I'm with this year.

Also - Rain is a 50/50 there... The forecast is for Algonquin park which is bloody huge. I'm hoping for the best - but you never know.
