The FACE is a persons identity! By wearing a burqa . . . Islam is taking away a womens identity. They all look the same! How would you pick one out up in a line-up?

They should go further than banning the burqa, they should ban Islam and bar immigration from muslim dominated countries before this fascist nazi-like ideology enslaves us all.

@omkhan: yes, but most muslim women don't choose to wear this attire, they are forced into it as a way to perpetuate repression towards women.
And, BTW, one of the most fundamental principles of western law is that you are NOT free to renounce your rights. Even if you want to be a slave out of your own will, in a western society you are not free to do so.

ABSURD, why make a big deal over a dress, u see Africans wearing their giant crap and no one says anything. I agree with the fact that harassment by their husbands/community is disgusting, but what about the Muslims that want/need to wear it! P.S. the majority of this harassment happens in the Middle East countires, so let their government take care of it. Foreign affairs will only anger them more. AND that Irshad girl is a total bitch.

why not just ban people, because we're all ignorant especially Irshad Manji, who is a known feminist dyke who says whatever garbage that comes out of her mouth wether true or not. Many women have said , they wear it because they want to , not because of any man forceing them to, and ofcourse Irshad Manji is a known Muslim hater from way back
