Syrian Ambassador to the United States Imad Moustapha discusses The U.S., Syria and the New Old Middle East: Confrontation or Cooperation?

On the front lines of multiple Middle Eastern crises, Syria is a key player in regional politics, and a strong diplomatic relationship with the United States is critical in efforts to rebuild Iraq and improve the region's relationship with the West, according to the Iraq Study Group's findings. Moustapha was a dean at the University of Damascus and secretary general of the Arab School for Science and Technology. - The Commonwealth Club

Imad Moustapha is the Syrian Ambassador to the United States since March 2004. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Damascus, and Secretary General of the Arab School on Science and Technology. He is co-founder of the Network of Syrian Scientists, Technologists and Innovators Abroad (NOSSTIA), and was an active consultant to several international and regional organizations on Science and Technology policies in the Middle East (UNDP, UNESCO, ESCWA, ALECSO).

  • Lie and lie and more lies

do you think your father believe what you saying ii drought it mr Imad

  • 5:54 Ha!

  • "it was only a small military building, so we decided to let it go and not retaliate" what bullshit. moustapha knows dam well that it was a nuclear plant. Imad moustapha is a great liar.

  • Another thing about the dictatorship. It is one that caters to the interests of a very small sect of the Shiites (so...a sect of a sect, about 5% of the population). Most of Syria is composed of Sunnis, then Shiites. So Syria is very corrupt. However, at this point, neither America nor Syria, nor Israel can be trusted. The sad world of politics...

  • Democracy? Syria is a dictatorship. It is very corrupt.

  • is that a problem? i mean do u honestly think its fair for israel to have weapons and it to attack other arab countries but them not have something to protect themselves, or its ok if israel does it but not the arabs, especially muslims because they are "terrorists", their are so many violent criminals here in the u.s. but no body around the world goes bothering the U.S., tell me does that not sound to u like people just stereotype middle easterns and start hating them?

  • yes u do mind, because i dont know if u have seen the news but their arent any weapons in iraq they got the info from people who they shouldnt have trusted. Its illegal u say, why does it matter so much if the middle east people have weaponds specially muslims and arabs? Israel has had weapons for such a long time, but, u can search this up to, but the us refuses to idmit the fact. if they did, it would be so they dont get slautered when they are fighting other people, or they are taking over.

  • uhhh... i don't mind seeing from others shoes, I am talking about a boldfaced lie. Hiding an illegal nuclear program- no excuses. I do not live in a vacuum, yes I have a "Bias" for my own securtiy and survival- just like everyone else.

  • u know it doesnt even matter, because until u are willing to see this from both sides i dont care about talking to u. ur being biest and refuse to see it from anyone else's shoes.
