Much as I love the '62 film version, I have to admit this version uses the camera much more creatively, and there are some seriously imaginative tracking shots and quick cuts in this number.
If you're making a movie musical, why not do stuff you couldn't do on stage?

If all men flirted that way, the world would have too many warp spots to stitch together.
Didn't you see that guy? He was everywhere! o.o;;

Honestly, if all men flirted like that, who would care about the warp spots?

I mean...he's all right. Really. But he's just not as good as Robert Preston.
Also, I know he's not in this scene, but Marcellus is seriously boring.

Names in fiction are very rarely coincidental. The author comes up with just the right name for the character of the character.

I agree this movie uses a lot of great camera angles that might have been a bit more difficult for music man's budget to pull off but there's a lot of things that I feel disney subdued way too much. The instanagram filter of browning tones makes everything feel a lot dirtier rather than older, plus unlike the 62 version it doesn't have ... what I call a snappy version to it, like in a marching band almost. Everything in this version seems much slower and the visual cue jokes just don't work.
