It's tough. It may look easy but its tough.And that's partly why instructors across New York are pushing to make this a varsity sport in the city's public schools.SOT Ruth Payne, Double Dutch Coach:"they'll learn to succeed in double dutch and they'll learn to succeed in life also. Because it just transfers from the gym floor and, the competition into everyday. They learn how to talk, they learn discipline, self discipline, usually after a while they become self motivated."For those who don't know double dutch involves jumpers hopping between two ropes being twirled at the same time.SOT Nea Markus, Double Dutch jumper:"it's not really tough once you get the hang of it. Once you start its tough because you have to go fast. I'm the only boy in my school who knows how to jump. I'm very good though. Everyone says I'm better than the girls around me.

In no way is jump rope a gimmick sport. It is an internationally recognized sport that will be in the olympics one day. It takes a tremendous amount of athletic ability and practice to become one of the top jumpers in the sport. If you don't believe me, go check out some of my videos to see what is possible.

hm ganz schön kompliziert ^^ Wir machem im moment in der schule seilspringen O.O hm wär mal echt cool wenn es auch solche vereine in deutschland geben würde . naja troz allem cooles video ich beneide alle die das können . :D

My 13YO son has been having lessons on non-competitive exercise at school from a Govt. organisation- running, jumping, gym- all good stuff.

However, one ‘weird’ guy came in & took them out on a run last month. Half way round, he stopped encouraging the backmarkers, came up from behind each runner screaming “Eat s**t & die, LOSER!!”, then ran out triumphantly in the ‘lead’, running further & further out into the distance. He didn’t return to the school & hasn’t been seen since…
