@Sarily101 this was 1989... as a gymnast you should know that the bars used to be practically like the parallel bars men used, just different heights, and gradually became more & more spaced out. ;-)
i am surprised that they were set this close even in 1989, but it's probably because she was so young. it wasn't unheard of for them to be much closer as late as 1990 or even 1991. check out older videos & you'll see what i mean... start with nadia in 1976.

@Sarily101 yup...bars used to be that close in the 'olden days' lol...so glad they decided to move them out!

The bars seem way too close because I'm 5'5 and have the bars all the way out and dont have to pike that much in a giant

No, juniors do not go to the olympics, you have to be a senior elite level to make it into the olympics.
