These babies were born on May 22nd, 2008. Mama came back every night to feed and clean her babies.

This video is clips and photos of when they were 8 days old. We have at least 3 to 4 baby bunny nests in our yard every year.

BEFORE COMMENTING, please know that touching wild baby rabbits does not:

1) make the mother abandon the nest,

2) make the mother kill and eat her babies (someone ACTUALLY posted this, LOL!!),

3) make the babies catch on fire and morph into werewolves.

Rabbit moms only come back to the nest to clean and feed the babies only once per 24 hours, and only stays for 5 minutes at a time. It's easy to worry that she's abandoned them - but she hasn't.

If you find a nest and do not KNOW that the mother is dead for SURE: DO NOT MOVE THE BABIES. DO NOT BRING THEM INSIDE. YOU WILL BE SIGNING THEIR DEATH SENTENCE.

If you know for a fact that mama has been killed, their best bet will be with someone that is an expert. Baby bunnies are notoriously difficult to care for. Contact a local wildlife rehab center, or a local vet.

  • we just found wild baby bunnies in our backyard fence. our dog almost got to them so they could no longer live in the fenced area. i took them out (theres five) and they look identical to yours (same size, color, etc) and i dug a hole outside of the fence, and put the grass/cotton stuff back ontop of it. will the momma come back for them, and find them?

  • @melxoxo3 - Hopefully mama found them after you moved them, I feel for you. It's awful when dogs find them! I've heard that you're never supposed to move them but hopefully mama looked around and found them.

  • @Dance4edward - lol. That makes no sense - don't you think there is human scent ALL OVER our yard? Like it says in the description, mama came back every night, she didn't abandon them. Thanks though.

  • @trollrobot I know there is a scent do ya think im stupid? If the mom saw you touching her baby she would not have come back, it has happened to bunnies in my yard before....and you say IM the stupid one... look at yourself.

  • @Dance4edward - I don't believe I ever said you were stupid. Thanks anyway!

  • where do i find a bunny nest?

  • those are cottontail bunnies

  • what type of bunny is it and how to care for it because my cat broght in one thats injered wshould i do ? :(

  • We are in the middle of a hurricane and i found a nest of 4 babies. I didnt want them to drown so i brought them inside. They are in a basket on a heating pad. I pray mamma comes back after the storm is gone.

  • @trollrobot Mama will ignore them if they have human scent on them.

  • @trollrobot There's a big difference between smells in the yard and actually touching the baby bunnies. Some rabbits have been known to abandon their young if human hands have touched them, so it's not a myth.

  • @thelastthane It's been known to happen just so you know; it's not a complete myth.

  • @trollrobot Yea people these days, its a misconception they have , dont ask why. I found 1 today, but damn dog dug up its nest, thankfully didnt harm it.
