Contest Submission for Holiday Celeste Dettaglio: timelapse and stills of me doing a quick detail on my 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe. 2 bucket method using citrus wash and gloss, chenille mitt and chemical guys buckets/grit guards. then a quick hood/roof/trunk clay using Luber and Light clay bar, then Butter Wet Wax applied to hood/roof/trunk and easily buffed off by hand to a beautiful shine.

Each bucket has a grit guard in it. one bucket is about 3 gallons of clean water to wipe the mitt against the grit guard in after i wash a section of the car with it. the other bucket is about 4 gallons of water with an oz of citrus wash and gloss which is used to clean the car. i do an initial rinse, then i get a mitt full of mostly suds with some water and kinda ring it out on the top parts of the car to let it drip down and take off as much dirt as possible before agitating it with the mitt. after i wash a small section of the car, i agitate the mitt against the grit guard in the bucket without the soap to remove the dirt particles. i start at the top parts of the car, then do around the fenders, the sideskirts and the front lip since those usually have heavier dirt. i use the miracle dryer towel for the main body of the car, the red waffle weave towels for the windows, and a separate microfiber to wipe the fenders, sideskirts and then lastly just inside the wheel wells. then i do a light clay bar on the parts of the car that usually get the most contaminants on them, and feel it after you do a section to make sure you got it all- it should feel like glass and you shouldnt hear any sound when you move your hand across it. butter wet wax is applied with a wax applicator in small circular motions, i enjoy applying wax by hand myself- some like to do it by machine but i only use a machine for what i cant do by hand. let the butter wet set for about 15 minutes then it easily buffs off and reveals all the beautiful hard work youve done making your car look beautiful while protecting it from the elements.
