@MCalixte89 This isn't even taking into account that John sang the entire song, including the backup/harmonic vocals. I've heard this song in many public places, like malls and restaurants. People always recognize the song as being a "John Mayer song". Herbie's name never even enters the thoughts of those who hear it. I understand that just because someone is not well know, it doesn't make them or than music any less meaningful or amazing.
@Eliminator5555 lol trust me i know that. i have the possibilities dvd. but the song was copy written by herbie hancock. john mayer would have to have permission in order to play the song live.
@MCalixte89 That's actually not entirely correct. Yes, the song is titled as Herbie Hancock, feat. John Mayer. However, saying that John is merely featured is quite an understatement considering the song and it's artistic contributions by John Mayer. John came up with the title, the concept for the song, and the main riff, which basically encompasses the song's melodie. John also played a large part in writing the song, if he didn't write nearly all of it.
It was AWESOME to see John perform this live on tour in 2008. I've seen him many times, but only seen him perform this song once. I think he rarely plays the song live.
