Thomas McEvilley The Shape of Ancient Thought

  • @Initium0 Well, you didn't really say it, now did you? Unless this is BMW on a new account trying to make himself look big.

Like I said, no Christianity=no Crusades=no NEED for a Renaissance or an Enlightenment--we'd already be there. Sorry to have to shout but you seem to be missing some key points I've made.

I have no idea why you believe I am Muslim. I find Islam to be every bit as ugly and distasteful as Christianity. But the murder of Hypatia predates Islam, so the point is moot.

  • "The Renaissance and Enlightenment were movements away from the traditional Christian values of hate, persecution" - DrUn

Like I said : No Christianity = No Crusades = No Renaissance = No Enlightenment. So like it or not , we Christians pwn your sorry asses you

sh%$headed burka wearin, hummus eatin, carpet kissin camel fu%$in towelhead!!!

  • The Renaissance and Enlightenment were movements away from the traditional Christian values of hate, persecution, and willful ignorance in favor of science and logical thinking. Christianity was dragged kicking and screaming into a better world, stubbornly gripping its beloved ugliness like a child's favorite doll. The Ren/Enlightenement wouldn't have been necessary if not for the crater where the Christian Dark Ages buried the human race in the first place.

  • Let's not forget the atrocities that propelled the rise of Christianity - DrUn

Hey towelhead listen up: No Christianity = No Crusdaes = No Renaissance = No Enlightenment. So why don´t you just STFU and go fu%$ a camel you fu&%in raghead!!!!

  • So I ought to thank my persecutor because if it wasn't for him, someone else would be persecuting me - drU

So, you think you`re being persecuted today, right? Hey asshole, be a little more appreciative of your Christian overlords, you fu&%in pagan. Lest you ferget, who put down the ragheads in 1492 ?

  • So you're saying that if it wasn't one violent and intolerant Abrahamic religion, it would be another violent and intolerant Abrahamic religion. So I ought to thank my persecutor because if it wasn't for him, someone else would be persecuting me. Makes perfect sense.

If you're a raging, over-xianized godbot. Very unsurprising comment there.

Love the strange, dichotomous revisionist history, BTW, and the hint of fatwa envy was the icing on the cake.

  • "Let's not forget the atrocities that propelled the rise of Christianity. It was spread at the edge of a sword" - DrUn

Hey fagget, if it wasn`t for us Christians, you`d be a beard wearin, hummus eatin, carpet kissin towelhead today. So STFU and be a little more appreciative of your Christian overlords, you fu&%in pagan.

  • I went to watch the film 10 days ago. Please, you must go to watch this film.

I think it´s a beautiful story about a very disgusting history, the end of paganism in Alexandria by the Christian religious fanaticism.

  • looks like an hollywood movie. focus on special effects and fights, and who cares of the true history and of the ideas.

Ipazia was killed because what governors and priests most fear are IDEAS and WORDS.

    Let's go rock'n'roll!!!!
