September 1755 British troops envade and destroy the village of Grand Pré in Nova Scotia on the weddiing day of Gabriel Lajeunesse and Evangeline Bellefontaine. They become separated and are deported to America on crammed ships. Evangeline spends her life searching for him and becomes a Sister of Mercy to help ease her pain. Finally in St. Martinsville, LA she finds him, but he is mortally ill. They share a moment of tenderness and spiritial transcendance before he dies in her arms. This legend is a symbol of the endurance of the arcadan people to exhile, rejection and survival.

Thanks Marie for your technical support. Once you have a cajun as a friend, you've got a friend for life!
