Nah, Balthier just looked annoyed, he probably thinks Al-Cid is a preening pansy, heh. People have commented that the relationships were under the radar in this FF. Like you couldn't really tell if Vaan and Penelo were an item, or if Baltheir was into Fran or Ashe. Basch might have been into Ashe too, but who knows.

I personally think Balthier was just a little threatened by Al-Cid's charm. He's always saying about being the leading man (when technically Vaan is) and this Al-Cid struts in all cool and smooth. Of course he's going to be jealous.

@Concepcion30 Not to mention the scenes for Vaan/Ashe. Or even Penelo/Larsa - "I will see that you are kept from harm", anyone? Granted, I'd have liked those two pairings the most, but it's still pretty annoying when you can't get a feel for romance, even if it WASN'T a key focus of the plot.

When vann step in and said its our charge he looked at ashe smiling and ashe looked at him at first surprised than happy but than when penelo stepted in and said something she lost her smile... penelo messed it all up they had a cute moment ...... Ashe/Vann

I think, when Bathier saw Fran right there next to him, he quickly tried to change his attitude because he didnt want any of his friends to notice his jealousy, especially Fran because she is his closest friend who he's known the longest. What kind of leading man is jealous after all?xD

And as for Fran, she didnt look mad at all. Matter of fact she seemed to smile like "Oo, so you have a thing for her?~"
