Uh no, i`ve seen lots of horses who succeded without a great pedigree. You are arguing over nothing, Empire Maker was an amazing stallion and racer.

The pedigree is everything, especially the dams race ability and that of her immediate generations. Also the sires pedigree that his blood matches well or "nicks" with the dams. You keep watching the movies.........

Well, yes. And the pedigree isn't important. Even if the odds are against you, what the odds don't know is that this isn't a math test! It's a completly different test. One where passion has a funny way of trumping logic. Take for example Seabiscuit. His pedigree wasn't the best, the odds where against him, but he won! And he succed.

If he is not a great racer he is not going to have the chance to be a sire.

You never know. And it isn't a waste of money because he could be not a great racer, but a great sire.

Waste of money, a mare who was a closer and a stallion noted for stamina
