A disciple of the legendary guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Madhavi Mudgal is the most celebrated interpreter of Odissi, an age-old classical dance form from Orissa, to the south of Calcutta. For Ananya (The Magisterial), a dazzling evocation of the amorous encounter of the gods Shiva and Parvati, she has devised an array of refined movements renewed throughout the piece by fifteen female dancers, accompanied by ten musicians led by her brother, the singer Madhup Mudgal.
Very nice. But the camera man should have captured more long shots. For such group dances with formations, close up does not work.
