How is your little Alesia doing now? I hope well, and that the family is too.

Hi i have SMA type 2 and i'm 18 years old, i also use a cough assist and a bipap. I heard you say in the video that you use pressures of 20/40 for the cough assist. I have always been told that we should always use the same pressures for inhale and exhale, for example i use 30/30 with 2 seconds inhale, exhale and pause. Using a higher pressure on exhale can cause the lungs to collapse.
I really hope they find a cure one day, not just for me but for all the other children and adults with it. xx

We like to think that it does not. Because she can not cough and can not swallow by herself it is required to use this machine to keep her airway paths clean. If you have ever chocked try to remember how you felt, now imagine that you where unable to cough at that time. The machine is used to get the staff out her airways path....I know is just to much for a 3 year old... we hate too SMA...but we do not give up we are waiting for a miracle.
