That hole Piper found reminds me of this one cave I found a similar entrance to on someone else's server.  The hole itself went directly into a skeleton dungeon, where the waterfall was drowning them as they spawned. After plugging that up and neutralizing the spawner the rest of the cave revealed a spider dungeon and zombie dungeon within about 30 blocks. It was bizarre, and I wish I'd written down the seed.
