Despite economic reforms, Moldova remains the poorest country in Europe. Its economy relies on money sent home by the hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who work outside the country. In the current global economic environment, it is inevitable that remittances will fall. Although it is still too early to tell by exactly how much, it is clear that declining remittances could have a large impact on families trying to cope with the economic downturn.

  • It is true , Croatia had higher standard of living , that's a fact but Romania is known to have one of the biggest "black economy" -around 30 per cent ,you know, a informal one -as result the actual living standard is higher then official figures presented in IMF's Database .+Croatia's debt is higher then yearly GDP , that's is why i tell that welt and poor is relatively and tricky :)

  • @saintas

i´m sorry that i can´t give you an answer to this question right now ´cause i don´t know how large our public debt is in comparison to the romanian debt, but all i was trying to say is that the standard of living in croatia is still higher than the standard of living in romania. i´m sorry, but that´s the fact and it´s checkable. google it if you don´t believe me.

  • @ostapbender000 tell me , please , do you know how larger is your country debt ? the "more developed" issue is such tricky sometimes ....

  • @AncutaMerkel

so what are exactly the advatages that romania has over other countries because of the fact that it´s never been a part of yugoslavia? croatia was a part of yugoslavia and was and still is much more developed than romania. according to your logic, we should be more underdeveloped than you for having been in yugoslavia. but we are not.

  • @BenTennison16 I was referring to the whole projected years up to 2013 you dumb fucking asshole. I was giving you the IMF October Database 2008 an example of what Romania's potential is before the crisis. You no nothing about Romania so shut the fuck up

  • @AncutaMerkel LIAR! heres the actual data from IMF. (damn youtube doesnt allow me to provide links.) oh well... go to wikipedia, type in romania, and look up GDP, referrance link #2, it will take you to IMF website, the GDP is 11+k, or 12k last year, so stop posting shit.

  • @AncutaMerkel how pathetic. tell me what did you do to make the country have what it has ? nothing...luck of draw so stfu... and besides 2 million romanians are working in Europe so it probably isnt the greatest country in the world. and dont even get me start on illegal ethnics (r.o.m.a.s) in France, Germany , Czech, Austria , list goes on. Stop hating on Moldova, its just bad

  • @AncutaMerkel I see you are dumber than I assumed. I meant I hope you will live in a very poor country NEXT LIFE, a country OTHER than Romania, a very POOR one, you are talking about Romania as if you worked very hard in order to be born there:))) What if you were born in Somalia or whatever? And believe me, I know a lot of facts about Romania maybe better than you do. I love Romania (between Tisa and Bug) more than you do anyway. Good luck to you, happy world citizen!

  • @Durlesteanu We have extraordinary advantages over most countries let alone the weakest and poorest country in Europe the Republic of Moldova. Romania ranks 7th in the world for minerals (Wikipedia), we have some of the biggest forests and wild life in Europe and more. You have absolutely nothing. Romania was never part of the Soviet Union or Yugoslavia so we have yet again great advantages over you. In 10-20 years time we will certainly be looking down on you and laughing that you went nowhere
