What do you do when your hd8 says system file error? Please help.

@RUCK973 I never saw that message. First run a scan disk. See if this will fix it. Instructions are in the page 172 of the manual “Test/restore integrity of the data on internal hard disk (Scan Disk)”

@RUCK973 Did you recently copy any files, from a CD or computer (using the USB connection) or any external source into the HD8 hard Disk? If you did I would suggest deleting it using the USB connection or in any way you can and try it. If it does not fix the problem then I would suggest that you delete the latest project that you were working on (maybe after making a backup to a CD or computer).

@RUCK973 If all fails then try to restore the hard disk to factory settings. Instructions are in the page 172 of the manual “Returning system file data to factory default (Factory Initialize)”

@davidnayir That's the whole problem. I cant do anything on it. When I first turn it on it says init....then it says found cd drive. After that it says system file error. I cant access any menus or anything like that. When I connect it to a computer I get the same thing.

@RUCK973 It looks like the hard disk may be damaged. Did you contact tech support or your dealer? Unfortunately I am not able to help since I have never experienced this issue.

1. You can re record the new take into a different V-Take of the same track. (For example; Track 2-2). This way you still get to keep the first take and might want to go back to it.

2. You can just delete track 2. (in this case the V-take 1 of Track 2-1) You can continue to record your new take on Track 2-1. However if later you decide to use your first take you will not be able to do it.

You can record 10 V-takes per track and chose the best while you are mixing your master

Once you record your 2nd track and listen to it, what if you don't like the 2nd track you've laid down and want to erase it? How do you do that without losing the other track(s) that you want to keep?
