  • The only thing I have trouble with is that they're comparing mobile platforms with the Linux PC platform software. I don't think you can ever hope to explode application making like that on the PC platform, unless you happen to have a monopoly like Microsoft.

  • @ryan4888 oh yeah, and btw, of course Wine wouldnt work. Wine is basically its own thing, not actual source files copied from Windows. If you want to use any windows apps, I pretty much just use my virtual PC

  • @ryan4888 everything works right to me. the only thing I need windows for is a few games, but I strongly disagree about what you said. between my switch from Windows to Ubuntu Maverick, I have better hardware support out-of-the-box, and when I wanted to edit a MKV file, it took me hours of searching on Windows and never found a thing. When on Ubuntu, a quick search in software center got me just what I've been waiting for, while I was looking for it on Windows like a retard.

  • @ryan4888 "Thats why we all love windows" ROFL

  • I think Ubuntu is great. I'm not a computer geek or programming wizard so I can't comment hugely about the complexities. However I have installed it onto my Dell D600 laptop and it runs faster, simpler, and straight out of the box! I tried re-installing XP on it and I had to re-install every single driver separately without an internet connection. From the installation Ubuntu was working straight from the word go!

  • @myromance123 Its formats suck. There is nothing that works right. Nothing useful, or productive. Thats why we all love windows, and OSX. Ubuntu isnt anything like it should be. It needs serious professional help. And i have wine, and i tried it. Nothing works correctly. Just saying i would love ubuntu if it became more diverse, and compatible with more things. And less glitchy.

  • Btw, this is the best UDS video by far. I hope there are more of these to come. A great topic, one thats been needing addressing for some time.

  • @ryan4888, I don't mean to be rude, but that is retarded. Its like saying, if they could make Apple's Mac computers compatible with .exe .msi and other windows formats, then I'd use it. Might as well just give Windows the name OSX but let it run windows OS. Ubuntu has its own formats, but its gonna take time and support for them to gain 3rd party software developer's products and partnership. Also, have you tried using Wine?

  • I think if they could make it non glitchy, compatible with .exe, .msi, and other main windows forms, i would be set on using this as my main operating system.
