Whether extracting heat from a relatively cold sea, or lake, or sourcing it from a much warmer industrial process, data centre of "flue", a Neatpump can be used to "boost" this heat to over 90C, thus delivering district heating from waste heat.
Using heat from a data centre will save a third of the running cost.
Unlike other systems which rely on high global warming potential working fluids, such as R134a, Neatpumps only use natural working fluids with less than 1GWP.
A system delivering upto 15MW is installed at Drammen in Norway. Others will follow.
