Soprano Simone Kermes sings "Mentre dormi amor fomenti" from Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's opera "L'Olimpiade" (1735). A track from the new CD "LAVA" with opera arias from 18th century Naples, featuring nine world premiere recordings. The orchestra is LE MUSICHE NOVE on original instruments. Conducted by Claudio Osele. Video footage was shot in the charming baroque garden of Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart (Germany). The libretto: Mentre dormi amor fomenti/Il piacer de sonni tuoi/Con lidea del mio piacer./Abbia il rio passi più lenti;/E sospenda i moti suoi/Ogni zeffiro leggier.
While you slept, Cupid lit/the joy of your dreams/with the image of my desire./The river flows more slowly;/and every light breeze/is struck motionless.

She brings life and excitement to music that is 300 years old. It's obvious that she has a passion for this repertoire, which -like her or not- she sings like no one else. Pergolesi and Metastasio would love her. Brava!
