  • it's good to know that at least one of the great performers of that age wasnt a drug addict.

  • @Tullfree That's true and I was at the Roots to Branches concert and he played in a WHEELCHAIR. He had played a concert earlier that year and injured his knee in a fall from the stage. How many artists do you think would have cancelled their tour? I give total props to Ian. His fans come first and he's proven it over and over.

  • well well well... so the isle of wight one was a non-hippie festival with no drugs and muck involved??? please....

  • Ian Anderson is a hypocrite. Ian anderson drank alcohol, which is a psychoactive DRUG. Ian Anderson smoked cigarettes, which contain nicotine, the DRUG that has killed more people than any other.

  • @cygnus53

What baloney … it's not the fans that come first, its his checks and money. It sucks to see this old wheezing geezer trying to cough out songs with his diminished windpower from smoking cigarettes his whole life and then bragging about not smoking pot … who cares.

  • With all respect to Jethro Tull and their fans, I have a feeling the answer to the question is really "because no one really gave two sh**s if we came and the concert promoters gave all the big money away to The Who already".

  • @MaxSplinters In August, 1969, perhaps.

  • WHILE IAN ANDERSON WAS A GREAT AND WONDERFULLY PROLIFIC SONG-WRITER AND PERFORMER, HE HAD THIS AIR OF BEING "BETTER" THAN OTHERS IN A HUMAN SENSE, IT SEEMED.... AND THATS WHY HE DIDN'T PLAY AT WOODSTOCK...... OR WAS IT THAT, HE WAS NOT INVITED?

ANYWAY, HE IS A GREAT MUSICIAN... BUT, NOT ABOVE OTHERS IN ANY SENSE. THEY ALL HAVE THEIR PLACE! :-)

  • @Ariel62073

I agree.....Once Ian caught wind that Ravi Shankar AND Richie Havens were on the same venue, well, he most likely shit himself and scurried back to Scotland.

    Pifffft.

  • Thank God, Jethro Tull and ian Anderson. a petit thief, talentless C
