Does Hillary have her own agenda?

*New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has accepted an offer from President-elect Barack Obama to become U.S. secretary of state, joining her former Democratic rival to help guide U.S. foreign policy. This fits the idea which Obama often talked about on the campaign trail, as he praised the presidency of Abraham Lincoln as described by presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin in her book "Team of Rivals." Hillary Clinton brings two decades worth of foreign policy experience, much of it on the front lines as First Lady during one of the most peaceful eras in U.S. history. Furthermore, she brings instant prestige and credibility to the position. Obama introduced Hillary Clinton as my dear friend, and said that she possesses an extraordinary intelligence and toughness, and a remarkable work ethic. She is an American of tremendous stature who will have my complete confidence. Hillary said that she would give my all as America's top diplomat. Hillary had scarcely finished speaking when her husband, former President Bill Clinton, issued a statement heralding his wife as the right person for the job of helping restore America's image abroad, end the war in Iraq, advance peace and increase our security. Obama was forced on the defensive over claims he could face a backlash in his Cabinet by picking the former First Lady for the post. Policy analysts say her selection as secretary of state could mean a more hawkish U.S. stance, noting that she has been more reluctant than Obama to commit to a firm timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. The choice of Clinton would present other potential problems for Obama. He would be investing his fortunes not only with his former rival for the presidency but also in an outsize figure on the global scene who has been conducting a kind of privately financed foreign policy all his own since leaving office.
