Original Mercury Records #73224

Debut 7/17/1971
Peaked at #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

This was the original "A-Side" that was meant to be the bigger hit.

The flip side is "Maggie May".
Radio DJ's flipped the record over and began to play more instead of "Reason To Believe". "Maggie May" debut 8/14/1971 and peaked at #1 for FIVE weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

This "flip side"" yields a great Rod Stewart song that you don't hear too often!

  • This record (a copy of which I have, and which I certainly prefer to his later "Unplugged" version) has this notice when one tries to click on it (as with the Derringer record, this may be related to the 0 views count):

"This video contains content from WMG and UMG, one or more of whom have blocked it on copyright grounds."

    One can't win for losing, I guess . . .

  • Sure brings back memories....

  • Reason to Believe was actually the A-side of the single and got the initial airplay, reaching the early 80s in Billboard's Hot 100, but then once Maggie May got played it shot up to #1.

  • i like this version.the unplugged version is alright too.

  • Cool TT , Technics

  • Wow. Perfect.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I'll ever get sick of it.

  • It is an incredible song. I remember when Peter Paul & Mary put it on one of their albums in the early sixties. Don't know how old Tim Hardin is but he had to be in his early twenties 'cause I was only 20 or so. Loved the song ever since the first time I heard it.

  • This is by far the best version of this tune thanks for posting!!!

  • I just came upon your site, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. so good, so good.........
