Jews believe that if one keeps Shabbat, this protects him. Conversely, if one descrates Shabbat, then he places himself and his neighbors in danger. In the past years, a Jerusalem court (before the state) upheld this principle and forced someone in a religious neighborhood to comply or to move, so that his neighbors would not be in harm's way.
