Hovhaness, The Prayer of Saint Gregory for Trumpet and Organ. Performed live by Fulbright Scholars Nathaniel Mayfield and Albinas Prizgintas in New Orleans.
Nate Mayfield makes a lot of music sound beautiful. He generally plays on period instruments that make his performance particularly challenging. He is also a marvellous teacher whose students benefit from his dedication and hard work as a musician, who both understands performance and the history of the music he performs.
@SaganAppreciationSoc I'd like to find one Hovhaness song on YouTube not all commented up by you Sagan nuts.

@odenskrigare
Carl Sagan no doubt. Carl did a lot for Hovhaness and Vangelis.

Me too. :-)

@sirtimofthestrat
Yeah really. Ironically, I came to know of Hovhaness through a famous atheist.

Abosolutely amazing piece of music. I heard it for the first time at a concert on a huge pipe organ...and I had to pick my jaw off the floor.
