It was almost Christmas time,
there I stood in another line.
Trying to buy that last gift or two,
not really in the christmas mood.
Standing right in front of me,
was a little boy waiting anxiously.
Pacing round like little boys do,
and in his hand he held a pair of shoes.

the casheer said son theres not enough here.
He searched his pockets frantically,
then he turned and he looked at me.
He said mama met christmas good in our hearts though,
Most years she just did with out.

Some how I've gotta buy her these christmas shoes.
So I laid the money down,
I just had to help him out.

i love this song i remember my moms last christmas i was putting up the tree for her she had cancer and she watched me and cried and this song came on and she and i look at each other and cried so hard to let go of her i will always be her little girl, i know she is with Jesus she was a wonderful mother , and my best friend.

This song brought tears to my eyes...that's how I felt when my best friend died last year around Christmas time. This song reminds me of him. It was one of his favorites. I remember when him and I were seniors in high school around Christmas time listening to this song. We both ended up crying and said that if anything should happen to the other; we would listen to this song and try not to cry. But that doesn't happen because I'm crying as I'm typing this....but I know he's in a better place
