After the 2004 tsunami, volunteers from all over the world converged on the Phi Phi Islands to kick start the humungous effort to clean up the debris and destruction caused by the tsunami.
An initiative called the Phi Phi Dive Camp was started to clean the beaches and underwater reefs which took the best part of a year to complete its work. In total the PPDC volunteers collected well in excess of 300 tons of debris from the underwater reefs with the help of 4000 volunteers. This is the first day.
