"Down On Me" (the studio version, not this live version) was originally a B-side from the 1st unsuccessful 1967 Big Brother & the Holding Company album. After the massive success of the 2nd 1968 Big Brother & the Holding Company album, "Cheap Thrills," this live recording of "Down on Me' was released as a single to great success. It was recorded sometime in 1967 or 1968. It is my personal fvorite live version of Joplin in concert. She is at her best.
If it were possible to bring an artist back to life, it would have to be Janis! This world could use some of that real soul. No other artist poured out their feeling like she did. Her stuff was f**king real.

There's no way you can listen to this song and not go "My. Fucking. God." I feel like my guts just spilled out onto the floor...In a good way.
