Burnin! was the 2005 ETW (Eastern Trombone Workshop) Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition Winner and performed at the ETW festival in Washington DC, March 2005 featuring compositions and arrangements by Brian Allen and Jerome Smith, directed by Allen with Don Lucas as faculty adviser.

Thank you to the Edwards Instrument Company and Texas Tech Jazz Program under Alan Shinn for their support in making these events and ensemble possible.

  • Thanks for the reply gatotemus. I listened to this at about 1:00 am and couldn't sleep the rest of the night because I was hyped after hearing it! Very spectacular playing indeed.

  • I appreciate it. Yeah, the idea was to have the bass bones on opposite ends of the ensemble and break up/double the writing between the two for a big stereo kind of sound. Fun band. All of them are such great players.

  • This is some extremely smokin' playing, good god. Love it. The guy on the bass is really killing it.
