@stardate2856 I see your point of view. In my humble opinion, I found the fact she did this speech at an awards show very fitting of the type of person she is. Full of angst, angry, slightly awkward, misunderstood, against the grain and oddly shy, and that is completely obvious in her music. I would have been put off if she would have been any other way. I remember watching this live when it happened and it resounded in my head. This is just how she is. Real.

The message she was trying to articulate was basically a very sound one, with which I happen to agree--most people are way too willing to just go along with what their favorite celebrities, like, for example, the Kardashians, are doing, when they should be their own person instead; I don't dispute that. But I'm saying that the WAY she said it, while accepting an award, no less, wasn't in her own best interests and left a lot of people saying she was ungrateful. And she IS talented.

I'm not confident that this statement damaged her career or that she isn't heard from anymore. When an album of her material is released, it sells well.
