GE's are cheaper to acquire... period

That is the reason why GE outsells EMD these days

Well. Not really. a GE ES44AC costs over 1.5 million. While an ACe costs 1.56 million, or something along those lines. There isn't that much of a price difference. The only reason there are more GE's out than EMD's is because Erie, PA has a larger facility to crank out more locomotives.

sadly enough, and what many of us may not have figured, that was most likely enough to cause the UP to retire it.
