ZomgitsCriss, here's a little experiment invented by Matthew Dillahunty. Go onto 'Skepchick' blog and pose as someone other than yourself and ask a very gentle but challenging question such as 'Do you really think there's a patriarchy? If so, could you define it and provide evidence it exists?". And see how fast you get shut down. I respect the fact that you are a feminist who speaks out on Islam but you're associating with people who behave like fundamentalists.

Another large factor people seem to forget (for whatever reason) is that many death threats, sexual advancements, racist postings, etc. are by "edgy" 12 year-olds from 4chan who don't mean what they write and are likely social justice progressives and anti-racists in "real life" who deliberately post things like that to invoke a reaction.

I'm 5 minutes in and I understand the concern but I've received loads of death threats, sexual assaults & advancements (I'm male) and so on after 6 or so years on online communities. Of course I don't publicly post any private information so obviously I'm bias but even if I did I say "fair's fair". I believe freedom of speech should be protected on the internet although particular sites and people should be allowed to handle their communities or lack there of as they see fit.

Hysteria should have been applied to men, since they disproportionately react to things that don't even exist. I think that's called hallucination. Oh & poor ole thunderfoot.
