I am Canadian, but any Canadian that can't admit that Russia has had the best talent in hockey for the past 100 years must be missing some brain cells. Russia is to hockey what Brazil is to Football. Brazil doesn't always win the world cup, but they always have the best talent. Russia is the same!!! Thanks for posting this. I remember my dad picking the Russians to win this game. He took some heat from everyone, but as usual, my dad was correct. He cheered for Canada, but was always objective!

@ardemua ya it's Gold or bust for Canada...if Crosby is healthy Canada should win the Gold in Sochi....... Russia has no excuse not to win the Gold at home. i'd say winning 50% of the gold Medals in Men's hockey is pretty good. That doesn't even include women's hockey. Is that hack in Washington still considered the best Russian? Ovechkin i think his name is?

Czechs and Finns stopped them. I don't think Canada will make it to medals in Russia, just like they didn't in Nagano and Torino.

@wg390 Just 1 question - since the Olympics has allowed NHL players, Canada has won 2 gold Medals, Sweden has won 1 Gold medal and the Czech Republic has won 1 gold, how come RUSSIA hasn't won a GOLD MEDAL????? I bet they don't even win in the next winter Olympics in Russia.

every team has its own special skill - canada - athletic/ power and at last time combinating with speed / russia -speed & attack /chech team - /physikal strongest ?/ sweden - combinating &passing ? but now canada stronger / theyr take most of russian style - theyr playng is somethg same as this russian game

@robertsteven The Soviets were the best in the early 80s of course ... but you can't deny that Canada has produced some pretty incredible talent ... Gretzky, Lemieux, Lafleur, Orr, Bourque, Patrick Roy, etc.

@robertsteven Right.Now day we have talent but not a great team.Canada got more talents in last 20 yeare.But to be fair USSR 1970-1990 TEAM and CSKA club TEAM until 1990 was better teams ever to play this game,They got talent and thw were trainig for 360 per year,it is impossible to beta this kind of combination
